2.- Society “The villagers that inhabits our kingdoms, my daughter, are like the blood that flow in our veins: if we take care and keep them mighty, we will be stronger to face the avatars of the life” Word of Duke Izant to his daughter Freia. Brief story of Hasels, Ongar Daovana. Vhaldari societies are very homogenous in regards of politics and social organization. They can vary depending of the treatment of their lords towards the civilian population, but it hardly has differences in their political systems. Their differentiation comes from the inherited culture of the dominion and from the proto-empire they belong: a kingdom born from the proto-empire Noridia is different in architecture and life-style that one born from Suravia. All of the dominions have in common the breeds, type of authority figures and the economic system inherited from the First Empire of the Reunion, to which they named Vhaldaria. 2.1.- Castes and races. “Vhaldari /ˌvalˈdɑːɾɪ/: Belonging or relative to the First Empire of the Reunion after the Darkest Age of the Known World. The Great Lord Dornasull of Vhaldaria said, by the texts of writer Kauswara Tar, that every creature living in its dominion was considered a ‘vhaldari’. Thus, both animated and living motionless creatures were called by such name. Although, after the fall of the empire at the hand of Vhaldaria’s princes, the name became applied only to bipedal instead.” Golden Encyclopedia. Golden City’s Librarium. Vhaldari are a bipedal race that possesses the strength and instincts of ancient animals with the intellect of the missing alilanda.
2.1.1.- Castes The Book of Ohblon collects in its pages that, in the beginning, vhaldari were all civibelos and with passing kalends, appeared two more breeds to help them to develop their civilization. It also says that civitanos and civitalis became the servants of civibelos in some cases, almost at the point of slavery, although civibelos kept doing all the heavy duty. With the time, several dominions were changing its thinking and made civic laws giving them some freedome to civitanos and civitalis. The colossal civibelos show great strength and vigor. Their muscles and bones are prepared for jobs that require a heavy amount of physical form. They are the most numerous group due to its resistant body, immune to some illness and easy recovery. In this breed exist three lesser classifications based on the five staves: below 4 staves and 3 fingers, it is considered a dwarf civibelos; and those vhaldari with over 5 staves and 3 fingers, are considered “draconian civibelos”. Civibelos are the ones who do heavy tasks like mining, building and agriculture. Civitanos are bit shorter in height but with an athletic body that, if trained, it can transform into a shorter civibelos, however they are prone to illness and their skin recovery is not as fast as the bigger breed has. They are the group that often is in charge of activities related to handcraft or intellectual based tasks, like workshops’ management. Services and city management are often related to this breed. Civitalis are the shortest vhaldari. In their little hands falls the artisan, creative and delicate labors. Usually, their intelligence is superior to that of the other breeds, but their number is the lowest due to their physical and health fragility. They are highly susceptible to illness and akridos attacks. Aside of fine precision tasks, they have other jobs like botanic or writing. This is a humble breed, which tends to take orders instead of giving them. 2.1.2.- Races Depending of their zoomorphic relative, the races divide into general groups in which, depending their muzzle type, they differentiate. The race at head has the most individuals in number: Leonar.- All of feline snout: lions, tigers, lynx, cats… Kanidar.- All of canine snout: Wolves, bears, hyenas, some dogs breeds… Vhovinar.- All bovine-like: Buffaloes, bulls, wildebeests, bison, oxen… Roetar.- All rodent-like: Mice, guinea pigs, rabbits, squirrels… Almost mythological, a tiny number of individuals: Reptorar.- All the scaly ones that shed in a smooth skin between 32 and 40 kalendas: Crocodiles, gator, snakes, tortoises… Hipolfar.- All the pachyderms: Elephants, hippopotami, tapirs, rhinoceroses… *Drakonar.- Draconic. Mythological, missing after the split of the Mitzakan: Aviar.- All of aviary-like Oceanar.- All of the marine creatures. *”Drakonar /ˈdrakonar/: Is the mix from an Aviar and a Reptorar. The last specimens are under the ruling and protection of the Archmage Court at the White City of Finisthelos.” Golden Encyclopedia. Golden City’s Librarium. Almost considered mythological beings, previously they were hunted and their blood was considered for many wizards as an elixir for youth and strength. At the cite says, they are guarded by the Archmage Court and strictly follows what their lords say.
2.2.- Politics The most expanded political system in the Known World is the warrior monarchy called Lordship. Understanding it also as any dominion under the rule of a Lord, which could be a King or an Emperor, highly qualified on the arts of war. However, recently it was discovered the rise of the popular power on the first Republic of the Known World, explained on the following.
2.2.1.- Councils of Pairs The cities are administrated with a little council of vhaldari that are chosen by their administrative skills between several city guilds. Even cubs have a representative inside the council, mainly to communicate the youth’s mood. The council is often formed by seven elected members, called peers, and a mayor or aedile whose position is permanent being elected by the crown to manage the city. Although the aedile has the last word, its role is more of a mediator to reach a consensus between the peers, and that way establish the priorities of the city on management tasks. When the needs of the city are a royal matter, the aedile goes as a representation of their people to the capital to deliver its message. The infant pair, the one from the cubs, is elected on the pagoda and its charge in the council is as important as of the adults. 2.2.2.- Lorships The Lordship is the compound of the king and his family that knew how to keep a consolidated dominion, serving to their village which they protect. However, there are lordships where slavery and a fear policy have been ageless. The kings or high nobility from a region are the maximum authority. They have powers over the four elements to which they grant to the rest of the nobility. Aside of the political power, vhaldari under the protection of a noble bestow indirectly power to their lords through Aura rites channeled from sacred places of each Demiurge. The rites and chants of the vhaldari generates energy that, not only is destined to the Magion, but is also to the lord, grating powers over the elements and health, as wound regenerations, high longevity, better resistance to venom and illness, among others. 2.2.3.- The Republic [unknown information] 2.2.4.- The War The army of a dominion is composed solely by the king and his nobles, who do not relay on weapons other than their body and ballistic power of the elements for attack and defense. Usually at war, the combats are supervised by the Archmage Court, which sends a number of their members to witness the battles that could be fatal to any of the contenders. The archmage acts as the judge and mediates the handing of the lands on dispute. Sometimes, there are kings that make surprise attacks directly to the population, to which case the Court can only name the losses made. Those tragic carnages are terrible and effective methods of intimidation to adjacent villages. At times, the attacks are answered by the nightkeepers of the attacked city, but the hardly can face the power of the nobles' magion. 2.3.- Economy Everything round about the trade, the exchange of resources. By law, it is established that everything that involved food it belongs to everybody. Thus, everybody is forced to work in agriculture and livestock by shifts. Since childhood, it is taught to young vhaldari to the idea that everybody must work together to support the village. That is why, since cubs to elders, the members of the community contributes with their time and knowledge to collaborate in many instances they are needed. Each province has a main city and several towns surrounding it that give resources that the capital needs. There exists an internal market where obtaining food is the mayor priority of any community. The most appreciated material by the vhaldari is the iron and alilanda rust. 2.3.1.- Agriculture and Livestock (Unknown Information) 2.3.2.- Familiar Manufacture (Unknown information) 2.3.3.- Industrial Manufacture (Unknown information) 2.3.4.- Precious Materials Usually, the cities are located near precious stone veins, like gold and copper, which are the prime matter they use in making their tools of any kind. The precious stones are useful to the Magion and with those they won the favors of their agents to obtain more advantages in some cities over others. The most appreciated material for any vhaldari is the most scarce and useful: alilanda rust. They can only find them in alilandan relics and it may not be in all of them. To complicate the situation, the ruins are dangerous because, in some cases, they could be infested with akridos’ nests, dangerous animals or even have “ill” relics. In the latter, looking for rust in an ill ruin is like meeting Kahj. Rust extractors often are crazy vhaldari and hermits, however they live well thanks of the precious metal they exchange at trading places on the vhaldari cities. Likewise, there are variations of the rust, depending on the hardness of the precious metal: - Steel Rust: alilanda rust of strong hardness. It is very appreciated due the making of very resistant tools. - Iron Rust: It is often present on heavy slabs, gathered from artifacts shards and unknown kind of vehicles. - Tin Rust: The low quality one, but still useful to make tools that can endure several kalends.
